Jalopeura: ref sheet

I was chatting with , and last week about a project we're doing for a local floorball association. At some point the conversation turned from reindeer to mentioning jalopeura ("noble deer", if directly translated), which is the very old Finnish translation for lion, of all things. I couldn't shake the mental image of a lion with reindeer antlers after that, and thus I now have a new character at my hands. xD

Jalopeura, or Jalo for short, is a rather large lion with golden reindeer antlers. His design and colouration is heavily based on the lion in the Finnish Coat of Arms, thus the very different nose and tail designs compared to what I usually draw.

Jalopeura's antlers are golden when fully grown. They fall off after mid-winter has passed, and then grow back again. Before fully grown, they are covered in downy, protective fur the same colour as his pelt. When fully grown the protective fur begins to fall off. At this time period during late summer / early autumn, he is often seen rubbing his itching antlers against trees to get the fur loose.

I have no idea what I'm going to use this guy for, but I rather like how he looks like so there might be some more art of him coming sometime in the future. x3
